Following the tradition of great herbal teas, chamomile tea isn’t just delicious, it’s also healthy. From soothing the stomach to helping you get a better night’s sleep, Organic Chamomile is perfect for those tea drinkers looking to get a health boost out of what’s in their cup.

Perhaps that’s one of the reasons why chamomile is such a storied herbal tea — its history. Chamomile’s healing properties go as far back as the Egyptians, Romans and Greeks, who used chamomile in their poultices to speed wound healing. Today, chamomile is mainly harvested for its essential oils, and is known to boost the immune system due to its antibacterial properties. It may even prevent diabetic complications — although studies are still being carried out on that.

Why is two leaves and a bud’s Organic Chamomile Herbal Tea so special? Not only is it one of our most beautiful tea sachets, featuring big, whole, yellow-orange chamomile flowers, but it’s also delicious. While chamomile actually grows everywhere across the world (it looks like a dandelion plant), this is great organic chamomile sourced direct from Egypt. It has a deep, earthy, lemony flavor that you won’t find in most chamomiles. Says two leaves and a bud CEO Richard Rosenfeld, “I really like lemony chamomile. Most chamomiles have the flavor of apple and straw, but this one has a great citrus-lemon flavor that you can only find in Egypt and Europe during certain times of the year.”

And it’s not easy sourcing this level of quality organic chamomile direct from Egypt. Says Richard, “A distributor friend of mine asked for us to provide a straight, pure organic chamomile tea sachet. I jumped right in and said, ‘sure!’ I had no idea the headache I was in for.”

The reason for the headache: bugs! Since our organic chamomile doesn’t use any pesticides, it can be difficult to keep bugs out of the crop. What’s our solution?

“Bugs like chamomile just as much as people like chamomile,” Richard says. “We have to buy chamomile at the right time in January and get it out of there quickly. Otherwise, the bugs eat it!”

So, organic chamomile might be a headache, but what can we say? It’s really great organic tea, and we’re happy to put in the sort of care and effort that allows us to provide it to our customers bug-free!
