When tea becomes part of the meal … literally

Introducing a new feature from us here at two leaves — recipes! Our new marketing coordinator, Christy Garfield, came up with this concept, and now, having made the first recipe for my family over the weekend I can stand up and say, “Bravo!” How great is it that I had some tea in my cupboard (of course) and I could use it to create a really delicious meal? I’m looking forward to discovering many more tea-centric recipes that make our tea shine way beyond your daily mug. In this case, I used a spice grinder (but you could easily use a mortar and pestle) to pulverize a couple of sachets of Organic Mountain High Chai. That heavenly-smelling powder gets blended in with other spices and used as a rub on pork that will be seared. More of the Mountain High … Continue reading

Making mornings a bit better

Some of us just aren’t morning people. In fact, some of us really aren’t morning people, and never will be. Other others of us have children, jobs that start early and lengthy commutes, and, well, we just have no choice about facing the morning. So obviously, anything that makes me feel even the slightest bit better when I’m coming down with the latest bug is worth its weight in gold. And lately, that’s our Organic Better Rest Blend, steeped for a very long time and then mixed with a tablespoon of honey. This is the sort of mug of tea I can cling to while sitting on the couch in heap of tissues, or while pretending to be less sick than I am at a staff meeting (it happens). Now for the really bad … Continue reading

Coming clean about our tea habits

Raise your hand if you think you have a tea habit. If you’re reading this blog, chances are you have a hand in the air, and that’s good. The dictionary defines “habit” as “an acquired behavior pattern regularly followed until it has become almost involuntary,” like looking both ways before you cross the street. But having this kind of tea “habit” conjures up images of reaching for a mug, a sachet and the electric kettle like a robot, with all the emotion of scratching your nose. Tea is quite emotional for many of us, isn’t it? It’s both a habit and a treasured ritual, something we do to wind up for a big day, focus in the afternoon, chill out in the evenings. So what I really wanted to know from my fellow staffers in terms of a “tea habit” … Continue reading
